Ted Batchelor, a man from Chagrin Falls took a flaming leap off the bridge overlooking the Chagrin River. This was the 30th anniversary of the first time he did it back in 1976.
From Home Page "May 22nd was a well known tradition," says Joanne Zettl, a Chagrin Falls resident who had been there the very first time Batchelor had jumped off. It was a bet that I thought was going totally over the edge, but he was really going to do it."
Before Jumping, Ted had to sign an agreement saying the small village was not responsible for any injuries. There had been a law which prohibited anyone jumping off the falls, but for this occasion it Chagrin Fallswas suspended.
The last time Batchelor had jumped, he had gotten about a $1,000, 2-year probation, and the courts had also debated about 90 days in jail.
Now, Ted Batchelor is a professional stunt man, and he holds the world record for the longest full body burn without oxygen.
